1) Big Ten teams the Big 12 should add for 2020: Penn State

The team from the Big Ten out of the three on this list that would be by far the toughest to defeat for the current 10 Big 12 teams, if they were to hypothetically join the conference, would be the Penn State Nittany Lions. Entering the 2020 season, Penn State carries the No. 7 ranking in the preseason AP Poll.

Last year, Penn State finished up with a record of 11-2 (7-2 Big Ten) after knocking off the upstart Memphis Tigers in the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, TX, by the final score of 53-39. Penn State would bring back a good team this year, and an accomplished head coach with a good track record between his time with the Nittany Lions and Vanderbilt Commodores.

Current Penn State head coach James Franklin has yet to take this team over the hump and either win a Big Ten Championship, get into the College Football Playoff, or both. Penn State largely sits in the same boat as the Wisconsin Badgers and Michigan Wolverines in that regard with their current coaching regimes.

There could be a natural rivalry that forms between Penn State and the West Virginia Mountaineers if the Nittany Lions were to be annexed into the Big 12 for one year. It would be fun to see what the talented rising sophomore quarterback Sean Clifford could do with Penn State this fall if they were to hypothetically play in the Big 12.
