Texas Football: 3 most efficient skill position players for 2020
Texas football needs to have their young skill position players (outside of Ehlinger) be at their very best this fall to compete at the top of the Big 12.
Entering the 2020 season, the Texas football program will have to shake off a ton of distractions from the offseason and the crazy year that was so far to get ready for the UTEP Miners on Sep. 12. Texas has to be chomping at the bit to get the season started once an offseason that felt like it was an eternity long (and had a ton going on) concludes.
But where will the Longhorns get the most production from this fall?
Texas returns most of their starters on both sides of the ball, which should bode well for what’s to come this season. There was the problem last season of inexperience at a lot of key positions on each side of the ball. But the Longhorns should be more solidified at most spots, but the skill positions could be a bit spotty.
The Longhorns do lose their top two producers at wide receiver from last season, and tight end experienced some changes and injuries that were key. The star wide receiver duo of Devin Duvernay and Collin Johnson is gone, and we’ll see if rising senior tight end Cade Brewer can stay healthy this year.
Texas should be steadier in the backfield this fall, with a few returning starters at running back and quarterback. But this still begs the question as to who will step up and be the biggest stars at the skill position for the Longhorns in 2020?
The Big 12 has a few teams, especially the Oklahoma schools, that are loaded at the skill positions heading into the 2020 season.
We can look at production over the last year or two, at the very least, to determine who are the most efficient Longhorns at the skill positions who could be big producers in potentially elevated roles this fall. Here’s a look into the three most efficient skill position players coming back for the Longhorns in 2020.
