3) Most efficient skill position players for Longhorns: Roschon Johnson, Running Back

Not a single wide receiver for the Longhorns actually made this list, which goes to show how much is up in the air for the receiving corps at the outset of the 2020 season. It is important to see how much players that head coach Tom Herman snagged out of the NCAA Transfer Portal, like former Michigan Wolverine Tarik Black and former Oregon Duck Brenden Schooler, contribute right away.

But the fact of the matter is that the Longhorns are going to be a team that more reliably can thrive off the skill position players in the backfield first. And we’ll how how all of the talent amassed in the receiving corps is able to produce early on.

Anyhow, we start off the running back portion of the list with former four-star dual-threat quarterback recruit and rising sophomore rusher Roschon Johnson. This sizable 6-foot-2 and 230 pound versatile running back amassed 146 touches for 807 total yards and eight touchdowns during his true freshman campaign.

That played out to an average of 5.5 yards per touch (5.3 yards per carry, and 6.9 yards per reception). Of his more than 800 total yards, 649 were rushing and 158 were receiving. And he only had one drop last year.

Roschon is also a good blocker. He ranked in the top three among skill position players on the team last season in five different games in run blocking grades. All in all, Johnson only got better as the 2019 season moved along, and he’s truly a player to watch at the skill positions for the Longhorns this fall.
