Former Texas football players that have entered the transfer portal in the last couple of offseason are abundant in one game in Week 1 of the 2020 season.

Week 1 has officially arrived in college football on Sep. 4 and 5, although it won’t involve any of the Power Five conference teams. Group of Five action is underway, though, and there was one FCS game technically during Week 0. In Week 0, the FCS Central Arkansas Bears downed the Austin Peay Governors in a fun one possession victory for the former of the two teams. At least there is something to watch around the country for any Texas football fans that are hungry for game action out there.

In Week 1, there is also a number of Texas Exes in action that should be fun to watch. Former Longhorns that hit the NCAA Transfer Portal in the last few years, and wound up landing with Group of Five programs, will highlight the weekend for any fans on the Forty Acres.

The highlighting games of the day in general on Sep. 5 includes the SMU Mustangs taking on the Texas State Bobcats in San Marcos in the mid-afternoon slate, and the Arkansas State Red Wolves traveling to face the Memphis Tigers in the primetime slot tonight.

To start the day on Sep. 5, the Army Black Knights dominated the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders, and the Marshall Thundering Herd plowed over FCS Eastern Kentucky. There was also some FBS game action on Sep. 4, with the UAB Blazers taking down Central Arkansas, the the South Alabama Jaguars coming up with the win on the road in upset fashion over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.

It won’t be until Sep. 12 that the Longhorns begin their 2020 season, which takes place against the UTEP Miners at home. UTEP is opening their season on Sep. 5 against the FCS Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks in the night game.

Here’s a look at three former Longhorn transfers to watch in Week 1 of the college football season.
