ESPN college football commentator/media personality Kirk Herbstreit is high on the Texas football program again for the 2020 season.

The first edition of ESPN’s College GameDay for the season premiered on the morning of Sep. 5. With the first full Saturday of college football action on tap, Texas football fans got to see fan favorites like Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, etc. give their picks not only for games this weekend, but for what lies ahead during this weird 2020 season.

And one of those aforementioned ESPN college football media personalities/analysts mentioned the Longhorns in their pick for the College Football Playoff on Saturday morning.

Apparently Herbstreit made the Longhorns one of his picks for the College Football Playoff this year. Herbie was also high on Texas last season, especially ahead of that huge showdown against the LSU Tigers, when College GameDay had its set on the Forty Acres for the game.

The pick for Herbie to have the Longhorns among his teams to get in the College Football Playoff this season was spotted by the Texas site in the USA Today Network, Longhorns Wire. The other picks for Herbie in the Playoff this year were the the Alabama Crimson Tide and Florida Gators out of the SEC, and Clemson Tigers out of the ACC.

Howard’s pick out of the Big 12 to make the Playoff was the Oklahoma Sooners. David Pollack had Oklahoma out of the Big 12 too. Corso changed it up a bit, including Oklahoma still, but also the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

The way the bracket was put together for Herbie, he would have the Longhorns taking on Alabama in the semifinal, and then Florida taking on Clemson in the other semifinal game. He picked Alabama to get past Texas in the semifinal, taking on Clemson to win the National Championship over the Crimson Tide.
