3) Can’t miss 2021 Texas basketball recruiting targets: D’Marco Dunn, SG

One of the more highly touted remaining uncommitted 2021 prospects that is also a target of the Longhorns 2021 class is four-star Westover shooting guard D’Marco Dunn. The North Carolina native stands at 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds and is one of the premier remaining uncommitted guard prospects for this recruiting cycle.

Dunn holds offers from just shy of 20 schools as of the afternoon of Sep. 7. The highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Arizona Wildcats, North Carolina Tar Heels, Vanderbilt Commodores, Clemson Tigers, Houston Cougars, Marquette Golden Eagles, Maryland Terrapins, VCU Rams, Wake Forest Demon Deacons, and Louisville Cardinals.

It’s impressive that the Longhorns have seemingly worked themselves among the leading schools in pursuit of Dunn’s commitment. He hails from roughly halfway across the country, and has blue bloods like UNC and Louisville after him, but Texas still very much remains in the running to get his pledge to the Forty Acres.

Dunn ranks as the nation’s No. 78 2021 high school prospect, No. 16 shooting guard, and No. 2 prospect out of North Carolina (247Sports Composite). It wasn’t all that long ago that Texas offered Dunn in the first place (Aug. 1). We’ll see how much traction Smart is able to keep with the highly touted Dunn from here on out.
