Texas Basketball: 3 last minute transfer targets for Longhorns
3) Possible Texas basketball last-minute transfer additions: Maxime Boursiquot
A potential gem find out of the NCAA Transfer Portal for Smart and the Longhorns for the remainder of this offseason could be with a smaller school more than halfway across the country. The former Northeastern Huskies 6-foot-5 and 215 pound forward Maxime Boursiquot was one of the more productive players on that team over the course of the last two seasons.
Northeastern was also one of the better teams in the Colonial Athletic Association in the last few years. One of the mainstays on the Northeastern starting five during the 2019-20 season was then junior wing Boursiquot. He played in 31 games in the season that ended before the postseason could start for the Huskies (starting in 26 of them).
Boursiquot averaged 9.0 points per game, 5.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.7 steals, and 0.3 blocks. He shot 56.9 percent from the field, 35.7 percent from beyond the arc, and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line. That amounted to a career-best 0.4 box plus/minus rating, .124 win shares per 40 minutes, and a 60.2 true shooting percentage.
He was also good enough to earn All-CAA Tournament honors last season.
That valuable two-way wing depth that Smart and the Longhorns could always use behind the likes of rising senior small forward/shooting guard Jase Febres could arrive on the Forty Acres if they signed Boursiquot. Texas could likely use more wing/forward depth than anything else in this rotation entering the 2020-21 regular season.
