The 2022 Texas football recruiting class now appears to be after five-star Nazareth Academy WR and Michigan target Tyler Morris.

The offers are still rampantly being sent out to the right targets for head coach Tom Herman and his 2022 Texas football recruiting class as we are now in the midst of the 2020 college football regular season schedule. And one of the latest offers sent out for the 2022 Texas recruiting class went to the highly touted five-star Nazareth Academy wide receiver Tyler Morris.

This 6-foot and 175 pound ultra-talented skill position prospect coming out of La Grange Park, IL, is creeping up to two dozen schools on his ever-increasing offer sheet. He specifically received his Texas scholarship offer back on Sep. 9. And since then, he’s received one more offer, which came from the Rutgers Scarlet Knights out of the Big Ten.

The other highlighting schools on Morris’ offer sheet includes the Michigan Wolverines, Northwestern Wildcats, Mizzou Tigers, Penn State Nittany Lions, Arkansas Razorbacks, Iowa Hawkeyes, Iowa State Cyclones, Kansas State Wildcats, Michigan State Spartans, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, West Virginia Mountaineers, and Wisconsin Badgers. He should surely rack up more top tier offers in the near future.

But apparently the offer that came his way from the Longhorns took him “by surprise”. Morris reportedly (Horns247 paid content) stated in a piece from the 247Sports network that he “didn’t even know they were looking at me”. But some of the things he had to say about Texas seemed to be a very positive reaction after that offer did take him by surprise.

What Morris could do for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class

It would be huge for the Longhorns to get Morris in the mix in their 2022 recruiting class. He would surely be a nice fit alongside the nation’s top ranked 2022 high school prospect, and five-star Southlake Carroll pro-style quarterback Quinn Ewers. Texas also has four-star Lancaster wide receiver Phaizon Wilson committed in the 2022 class at this point.

Morris ranks as the nation’s No. 69 2022 high school prospect, No. 11 wide receiver, and No. 2 prospect out of Illinois (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 slots him as the nation’s No. 54 high school prospect, No. 7 wide receiver, and No. 2 prospect out of Illinois.

Texas will continue to build this class around Ewers, and the receiving corps could wind up being really special as a result of his raw talent at the quarterback position. Morris’ interest could be a product of his commitment.
