There’s a possibility that the next commit up for the 2021 Texas football recruiting class is four-star LBJ safety Andrew Mukuba.

A big time commitment decision is looming this weekend for a key target of the 2021 Texas football recruiting class. In fact, head coach Tom Herman and defensive coordinator/safeties coach Chris Ash have one of their biggest remaining uncommitted 2021 targets announcing his decision this weekend with four-star LBJ safety Andrew Mukuba. This 6-foot and 185 pound hometown product for Texas was a prioritized target on the recruiting trail for a while now.

And it finally looks as if Mukuba is ready to make his commitment decision. He apparently has his decision dropping this weekend. And he looks to be choosing between the Clemson Tigers, LSU Tigers, Mizzou Tigers, and the Longhorns. It looks as if the main disadvantage that Texas is facing is that their mascot isn’t a tiger.

All jokes aside, landing a commitment from Mukuba could really round out this group of blue chip defensive backs in the Longhorns 2021 class. They already have multiple other four-star defensive back commits in the 2021 class, including cornerback Ishmael Ibraheem and safety J.D. Coffey III.

Other significant schools on Mukuba’s offer sheet that he appears to have already cut at this point in time includes the Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Baylor Bears, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Oklahoma Sooners, SMU Mustangs, TCU Horned Frogs, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and UCLA Bruins. He has just shy of three-dozen schools on his offer sheet ahead of his decision.

Mukuba ranks as the nation’s No. 242 2021 high school prospect, No. 14 safety, and No. 43 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 212 high school prospect and the No. 36 prospect out of Texas.

The 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions do favor Mukuba landing with Texas over the rest of the competition this weekend. The Rivals FutureCast also favors the Longhorns over the rest of the field.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2021 Texas recruiting class ranks at No. 15 in the nation, and holds steady behind Oklahoma in the second spot in the Big 12. Landing Mukuba would give them their 18th commit in the 2021 class.
