Who will be the next commit up for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class after landing 4-Star CB Jaylon Guilbeau on Sep. 19?

The latest commit for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class arrived on the afternoon of Sep. 19 in the form of four-star Memorial (TX) cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau. Texas is now up to three commits in their 2022 recruiting class, and more are likely to come in the near future. Few, if any, other programs around the country have as much momentum on the recruiting trail right now for their 2022 class than head coach Tom Herman and the Longhorns.

Texas now has three commits in their 2022 class, proving that getting an elite talent over early in the recruiting cycle can start paying major dividends over the long haul. The headliner for the Longhorns in the 2022 class is the elite five-star Southlake Carroll pro-style quarterback Quinn Ewers, who committed to Texas back in August.

The other commit in the 2022 class for the Longhorns is the underrated four-star Lancaster 6-foot-4 towering wide receiver Phaizon Wilson. As the first commit in the 2022 class, Wilson got ahead of the game as the first skill position prospect in place alongside Ewers now.

According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2022 Texas recruiting class now ranks at No. 4 in the nation and remains in the top spot in the Big 12 ahead of the Oklahoma Sooners. Herman and the Longhorns have a real shot to get the nation’s top ranked 2022 class if they keep successfully building around Ewers, and now Guilbeau.

After landing the commitment of Guilbeau, the 2022 recruiting class could continue to get off and running. Here’s a look at four targets of the Longhorns that could be the next commit in the 2022 class.
