How former Texas football transfers fared in Week 3
With Texas football on their bye week over the weekend, how did former transfers out of the program do in action on Sep. 19?
Week 3 of the 2020 college football season saw a number of former transfers out of the Texas football program in action. But the Longhorns themselves had their first official bye week of the season. The lone Big 12 team in action over the weekend was head coach Mike Gundy’s Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Oklahoma State barely edged out the Tulsa Golden Hurricane in a much closer than expected season opener for the Pokes at home last weekend. They got by the Golden Hurricane by the final score of 16-7.
And the other Big 12 team that was supposed to be in action last weekend in their season opener was the Baylor Bears. But Baylor had yet another planned season opened cancelled/delayed in the wake of a number of novel coronavirus cases. They were supposed to play head coach Dana Holgorsen and the Houston Cougars in a last-minute scheduled game on Sep. 19.
However, with the Longhorns on their first official bye week of the 2020 season, head coach Tom Herman got more time to prepare for the Big 12 opener on Sep. 26 on the road against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Any Longhorns fans looking for someone to root for around the country last weekend could’ve chosen to support Oklahoma State in the Big 12, or floated to former Texas transfers now playing elsewhere.
