2) Predicting next commit in 2021 Texas basketball recruiting class: Blake Wesley

The more highly touted of the two guards on this list that could somewhat realistically be the next commitment in the Longhorns 2021 recruiting class is the four-star Riley (IN) 6-foot-4 and 170 pound shooting guard Blake Wesley. But the recruiting processes for Neal and Wesley are at very different points at the moment.

Wesley has a lot less schools on his offer sheet than Neal does, but the former of the two has a higher ceiling and would add more raw talent to the Longhorns backcourt rotation. What Texas would be getting out of a commitment from Wesley is a smooth stroker that has a great shot from deep, a sneaky quick driver that is an effective facilitator too, and a potent perimeter defender.

Likely the weakest point of Wesley’s game right now is his defending ability, but that is always something that Smart has the knack to improve. Bringing that threatening outside shot and versatile offensive skill set to the table is something that these Smart-coached Texas teams can always use too.

Wesley holds offers from a lucky 13 schools as of Sep. 23. The highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Indiana Hoosiers, Maryland Terrapins, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Purdue Boilermakers, Butler Bulldogs, Cincinnati Bearcats, Iowa Hawkeyes, Louisville Cardinals, and Xavier Musketeers.

He ranks as the nation’s No. 118 2021 high school prospect, No. 28 shooting guard, and No. 4 prospect out of Indiana (247Sports Composite). There does look to be a good amount of traction between Wesley and the Texas coaching staff at this point of his recruitment.
