2) Bold predictions for Texas football vs. Texas Tech: Sam Ehlinger goes over 300 passing yards in the first half again

The effort from star senior quarterback Sam Ehlinger in the season opening win over the Miners back on Sep. 12 was nothing short of spectacular. Ehlinger registered more than 400 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, and no interceptions, in the first half alone. That helped Texas take a commanding 45-3 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Once Texas threw in backup quarterback, and redshirt sophomore former four-star dual-threat recruit Casey Thompson, the offense’s scoring did slow down a bit. Texas racked up 14 points in the second half, compared to 45 in the first.

However, Ehlinger should be due for another big performance in Week 2. He’s put together some impressive performances against the Red Raiders over the course of the last two years. In his career against Texas Tech in three total tries, Ehlinger has registered just shy of 900 passing yards (and over 1,000 total yards), eight total touchdowns, and just two picks.

This seems like the type of weekend where Ehlinger goes off again with a receiving corps that is a bit banged up, but is ready to make a big impact for the second straight week. If the Texas Tech defense is caught napping this weekend again, like they were against Houston Baptist, then Ehlinger could really have a field day.
