How does the landscape of the Big 12 football conference shape out after another crazy weekend of action on Saturday Sep. 26?

The Big 12 Football conference endured more chaos across its 10 teams in Week 4 of the 2020 college football season. This was the opening weekend of Big 12 play, and it definitely did not disappoint in terms of pure entertainment value across the board. Between extremely close games, frantic comebacks, and a few unexpected outcomes, this weekend’s Big 12 action definitely lived up to the hype.

There were three Big 12 teams still ranked in the AP Top 25 heading into Week 4 of the 2020 season. And others like the Iowa State Cyclones, TCU Horned Frogs, and Baylor Bears were just outside the top 25 entering Week 4. In the opening weekend of Big 12 action, back on Sep. 12, the conference definitely did disappoint, though.

It all started out with Iowa State falling short to Louisiana at home at Jack Trice Stadium on the afternoon of Sep. 12. Things got worse for this conference on that same day when Kansas State fell short at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan against head coach Blake Anderson and the Arkansas State Red Wolves.

To make matters even worse, Baylor didn’t even get to play their rescheduled season opener against the Houston Cougars and former West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen last weekend. The lone Big 12 team in action last weekend was the Oklahoma State Cowboys, who barely got past the Tulsa Golden Hurricane out of the American Athletic Conference.

This was a big weekend in the national spotlight for the Big 12, and it brought mixed results. The two powers atop the Big 12, the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas football program, nearly both lost on this day.

With all that changed heading into Week 4, and the Big 12’s opening weekend of conference play, here’s a look at the updated power rankings.
