Who’s next for the 2021 Texas football recruiting class after landing a commitment from 3-Star OT Max Merril back on Sep. 25?

The latest commit for the 2021 Texas football recruiting class arrived on Sep. 25, to start the weekend off on the right foot, in the form of three-star Strake Jesuit 6-foot-4 and 275 pound unheralded offensive tackle Max Merril. Texas looks to be getting close to rounding out their 2021 class, ahead of the start of the Early Signing Period.

But we really have yet to see what the full 2020 college football season will do for the Longhorns on the recruiting trail. They seem to be in a good position in the Big 12, entering their conference opener on the road on Sep. 26 against the Texas Tech Red Raiders. We shouldn’t put the cart too far out in front of the horse, though, as the Longhorns have a ways to go before the Big 12 Championship Game.

For Texas to really make a big impact on the recruiting trail for their 2021 and 2022 classes with their play on the field this fall, they would likely have to reach the heights they did during the 2018 season. They might even have to win a Big 12 Championship over the No. 3 ranked Oklahoma Sooners and No. 15 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys to make a major impact on the recruiting trail.

However, Texas is now up to 19 commits in their 2021 class after landing the pledge from Merril entering the weekend. According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2021 Texas recruiting class ranks at No. 15 in the nation and in the second spot behind Oklahoma in the Big 12.

Here’s a look at a few prospects that could be the next commit up for the Longhorns 2021 class after getting Merril in the mix.
