3) Next commit in 2021 Texas football recruiting class: Arden Walker

If head coach Tom Herman and defensive coordinator/safeties coach Chris Ash really want to dig deep to find another underrated commit for their 2021 recruiting class, then they should look no further than with three-star Cherry Creek strong-side defensive end Arden Walker. Texas could use some added depth at the defensive end position in the 2021 class.

But it all depends on how the coaching staff wants to prioritize pursuing both Walker and highly touted four-star DeSoto strong-side defensive end Shemar Turner. As by far the higher rated of the two prospects, Turner might be the one out of these two defensive ends that gets more priority for the Longhorns 2021 class.

However, it appears that the coaching staff is still strongly pursuing the sizable 6-foot-4 and 245 pound edge rusher hailing out of Englewood, CO. Walker ranks as the nation’s No. 776 2021 high school prospect, No. 54 strong-side defensive end, and No. 6 prospect out of Colorado (247Sports Composite).

If Texas were able to land a commitment from Walker, it would be the second prospect out of Colorado in their 2021 class, with the other being three-star tight end Gunnar Helm.

Walker does currently hold offers from just shy of 20 schools as of the afternoon of Sep. 26. The highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Colorado Buffaloes, UCLA Bruins, Boise State Broncos, Iowa Hawkeyes, Iowa State Cyclones, Kansas Jayhawks, Kansas State Wildcats, Michigan State Spartans, Mizzou Tigers, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Wisconsin Badgers.

Texas appears to hold the edge to get Walker’s commitment at this point in time, as he’s set to announce on Oct. 8.
