Texas Football: 3 bold predictions for Big 12 home opener vs. TCU
Heading into their third game of the season, Texas football has to be careful to not get too far behind again when they face TCU at home on Oct. 3.
It is a big weekend upcoming for the Texas football program. Texas gets to take on the TCU Horned Frogs and usually stingy head coach Gary Patterson to try and get their second win in Big 12 play, and their third overall of the 2020 season. TCU is coming off a loss from their de facto season opener in a matchup last weekend against the Iowa State Cyclones.
But TCU only fell short to the Clones by a minor three-point margin. Iowa State topped them by the final score of 37-34 in Fort Worth last weekend.
Texas is coming off a win in their Big 12 opener from last weekend, over the Texas Tech Red Raiders in the road in Lubbock. Even though Texas Tech owned a comfortable 56-41 lead with less than four minutes to go in the fourth quarter, senior star quarterback Sam Ehlinger led the Longhorns all the way back to snag the overtime win.
Three touchdowns from Ehlinger to redshirt sophomore breakthrough wide receiver Joshua Moore, and one to junior wideout Brennan Eagles, allowed Texas to get the 63-56 overtime win over the Red Raiders. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the Texas passing game. So far, Eagles and Tarik Black are doing a good job replacing the production of Collin Johnson, and Moore with Devin Duvernay.
Texas is a two-possession favorite over the Horned Frogs, so ideally they should be able to get the double-digit win at home. But it’s never easy against these stingy Horned Frogs.
Here’s a look into three bold predictions as the Longhorns take on the Horned Frogs in their Big 12 home opener on Oct. 3.
