1) Bold predictions for Texas football vs. TCU: D’shawn Jamison and DeMarvion Overshown lead the way on defense

This might not be so much of a bold prediction as a necessary expectation that the Longhorns get more contributions out of their more capable playmakers on the defensive side of the ball. Texas really got mixed results through two games this season from the likes of junior cornerback D’shawn Jamison and junior linebacker and former converted safety DeMarvion Overshown.

Jamison might be one of the more disappointing Texas defensive backs in the first two games of the season. He has one of the lower grades in pass coverage among all defensive backs that are getting regular playing time early in the season (at least 30 defensive snaps). So far this season, Jamison has six total tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss.

And while Overshown has shown flashes of brilliance, the consistent contributions aren’t quite there yet. Overshown has registered six total tackles, an impressive three tackles for loss, and two pass deflections. The three tackles for loss are good for the team lead (over senior defensive end Ta’Quon Graham with two) and he’s tied for the team lead with two pass deflections. There are three other Longhorns that have two pass deflections.

It’s not out of the question for Jamison to register two or three pass deflections, while nabbing his first pick of the season, against TCU. Sophomore quarterback Max Duggan proved to be turnover prone in the past (15 touchdowns/10 interceptions last season), and Jamison might be able to get a few chances on to get his first interception of the season.
