There’s a few particular TCU Horned Frogs that stick out that could be very problematic for the Texas football program in Week 3.

Heading into Week 3 of the 2020 season for the Texas football program (Week 5 for the 2020 college football season in general), a sneaky difficult test could lie ahead in their Big 12 home opener on Oct. 3 against head coach Gary Patterson and the TCU Horned Frogs. Head coach Tom Herman has to be prepared for whatever Patterson is going to throw his way.

TCU is never an easy opponent for the Longhorns. They upset the Longhorns last season in a pretty convincing win in Fort Worth, by a double-digit margin. The only time Texas has knocked off TCU over the course of the last five seasons, was in a convincing win the last time they faced each other in Austin. Texas beat TCU in 2018, and that is the lone victory that either Herman or former Longhorns head coach Charlie Strong has over this stingy Big 12 foe.

But Texas definitely has momentum on their side coming into their Big 12 home opener. Texas came back in dramatic fashion last weekend to beat the Texas Tech Red Raiders on the road in Lubbock. The game was pushed into overtime thanks to a massive 15-point rally late in the fourth quarter. Between the last 3.5 minutes of the fourth quarter, and overtime, the Longhorns went on a 22-0 run to beat Texas Tech by the final score of 63-56.

That thrilling comeback win over the Red Raiders back on Sep. 26 pushed Texas to a record of 2-0 (1-0 Big 12) on the season so far. Texas beat the UTEP Miners at home back on Sep. 12, by a dominant final score of 59-3.

On the other side, the Horned Frogs come in with a 0-1 (0-1 Big 12) record after falling short against the Iowa State Cyclones at home in Fort Worth in their opener. TCU didn’t get to play in a non-conference game yet, due to novel coronavirus related issues, so their loss to Iowa State is the only game they’ve played in so far.

The worst thing that Texas can do is underestimate or overlook this tough TCU team. Here’s a look into three Horned Frogs players that could each be problematic for the Longhorns in this Big 12 home opener on Oct. 3.
