Which quarterbacks in the history of the Texas football program (or at least in recent recorded history) had the best runs against Oklahoma in Red River?

The long and storied history of the Red River Rivalry game between Texas football and the Oklahoma Sooners is about to be played for the 116th time in its history. Texas and Oklahoma are set to square off at the traditional grounds of the original Cotton Bowl at the Texas State Fairgrounds in Dallas.

The different is that, in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic, there is no Texas State Fair this year in Dallas and the attendance at the Cotton Bowl will be limited. These are some really hot tickets for Red River since the capacity will be limited well below 50 percent. But there should certainly be a captivated audience tuned in for this game set for Oct. 10.

Oklahoma currently owns a two-game winning streak in the series with Texas. The last win for the Longhorns in Red River came during the 2018 regular season. Then Oklahoma beat Texas in the Big 12 Championship Game later in that same season and took care of business last year in convincing fashion.

The overall record in Red River does side to Texas over Oklahoma, 62-48-5. There are a lot of swings of course throughout the history of this rivalry, which is one of the most storied and significant in all of college football. Texas goes through its highs and lows, just like Oklahoma.

And there are a few Texas quarterback that really got the best of the Sooners in program history. Here’s a look back at three Texas quarterbacks that dominated the Sooners in Red River during their time on the Forty Acres.
