3) Texas football DB transfer targets to replace Kenyatta Watson: Cyrus Fagan

One of the most recognizable defensive backs that had their names put into the transfer portal so far this year, that would be immediately eligible to play for the Longhorns next season, is the Florida State Seminoles senior safety and former four-star recruit Cyrus Fagan. As one of the more experienced and proven defensive backs in the transfer portal that is eligible immediately next year, Texas seems like they could have the right target in Fagan.

This talented and proven 6-foot-1 and 195 pound defensive back wound up in the portal just after playing one game with Florida State this fall. There is a lot of change going around the Florida State program at the moment, with first-year former Memphis Tigers head coach Phil Norvell trying to implement his culture and schemes in Tallahassee.

Fagan played in 24 games over the course of his bits and pieces of four years with the Noles. He registered 72 career total tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception, four pass deflections, and two fumble recoveries. His best/most productive season with the Noles came during his junior campaign, last year.

The Mainland High School product hailing out of Daytona Beach, FL, was one of the more highly touted commits in Florida State’s 2017 recruiting class. He ranked as the nation’s No. 97 2017 high school prospect, No. 13 safety, and No. 18 prospect out of Florida (247Sports Composite).

Texas was not one of the more than 30 schools that sent Fagan a scholarship offer during his recruitment out of high school. But they would be wise to at least look into what he brings to the table for them now. He was one of the higher graded tacklers and one of the more versatile safeties for the Florida State defense during the last three years.
