1) Unlikable OU players for Texas football since 2000: Baker Mayfield

It’s really difficult to find any other Oklahoma football player in recent memory that is easier to dislike for the Longhorns and their fans than former Heisman Trophy winner and Cleveland Browns starting quarterback Baker Mayfield. The No. 1 overall pick of the Browns in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft seems to always carry a chip on his shoulder to talk trash on the Longhorns, even when it isn’t really warranted.

Mayfield even made headlines this season for the Sooners and Longhorns when he posted about Red River and the infamous Horns down on Instagram just last week. He’s made the Horns down gesture and overall trash talk toward the Longhorns very famous over the course of the last couple of years. What makes that more annoying is the fact that he also played for the Texas Tech Red Raiders and is an Austin, TX, native.

We can’t take away from how solid Mayfield was in his time playing for Oklahoma. He registered nearly 120 career passing touchdowns, less than 20 interceptions, and a sparkling passer efficiency rating of 189.4 during his time in Norman. But he still managed to make a lifelong enemy out of the Longhorns.

In four tries against the Longhorns, Mayfield registered a record of 2-2 (with one loss each coming as a member of the Sooners and Red Raiders). Texas wasn’t the easiest team for Mayfield to get by, as this defense was one of just two in his career to force four picks of him. He also tallied up 1,140 passing yards, six passing touchdowns, four interceptions, and one rushing touchdown in those four tries against Texas in his college career.
