A former three-star APB commit for the Texas football program, Ty Jordan, is making waves with the Utah coaching staff already in 2020.

A former commit of the 2020 Texas football recruiting class that was one of the most unique and versatile talents that was lost by head coach Tom Herman was the three-star in-state running back/athlete prospect Ty Jordan. Texas originally landed the commitment of the ultra speedy and elusive 5-foot-7 and 185 pound West Mesquite all-purpose running back, but lost it ahead of the Early Signing Period last December.

Jordan wound up flipping his commitment to the Utah Utes and signed early with head coach Kyle Whittingham as part of their 2020 recruiting class. And Jordan is not the only former Texas commit from the last few cycles at a skill position that Utah wound up landing on their current roster. The former four-star Newbury Park pro-style quarterback Cameron Rising is also now part of the Utes quarterback room.

Moreover, apparently Jordan is already making a very “strong impression” on Whittingham and the Utah coaching staff as they prepare for the start of their 2020 season in fall camp. Utah will start their season with the rest of the PAC-12 in a shortened version of a conference schedule in early November.

But Jordan’s impact reportedly (247Sports) could do enough to give him the ample opportunity to make an immediate impact at one of the Utah skill positions. Here’s more on what this piece from 247Sports had to say on the matter.

"Make no mistake, he’s not here to simply observe the competition, he’s here to compete and earn a role. “Ty Jordan has been real explosive throughout camp and it is going the distance, so that is nice to see,” head coach Kyle Whittingham stated on Saturday. “He is going to have a role as well, he has just tremendous speed, so we have to find ways to get him the ball.”"

Coming out of West Mesquite High School in Mesquite, TX, the promising Jordan ranked as the nation’s No. 441 2020 high school prospect, No. 8 all-purpose running back, and No. 59 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranked him as the No. 11 all-purpose running back and No. 58 prospect out of Texas.

Jordan and the Utes are set to open up their 2020 regular season on Nov. 7 at home against the Arizona Wildcats, out of the PAC-12 South. Meanwhile, Texas is set to take on the Baylor Bears at home on Oct. 24 in their next game coming out of the bye week.
