Texas Football: 3 bold predictions for Sam Ehlinger out of bye week
Where will the senior season of star Texas football quarterback Sam Ehlinger go from here heading out of a crucial bye week?
It is go time for the Texas football program and fourth-year head coach Tom Herman as they look to get back on track with a looming Oct. 24 home matchup with head coach Dave Aranda and the Baylor Bears. Texas comes into this game with a record of 2-2 (1-2 Big 12) after falling short at the hands of head coach Lincoln Riley and the Oklahoma Sooners in the annual Red River Rivalry game, by the final score of 53-45 in four overtimes.
The other loss on the season to date for the Longhorns came at the hands of stingy head coach Gary Patterson and the TCU Horned Frogs in the Big 12 home opener back on Oct. 3, by the disappointing final score of 33-31. Texas now has a two-game losing streak that they take out of the bye week, into this key showdown against Baylor.
Meanwhile, Baylor enters with a record of 1-1 (1-1 Big 12) coming off a disappointing loss of their own back on Oct. 3 on the road against the West Virginia Mountaineers in overtime. Baylor provides the Longhorns a key opportunity to right the ship when Herman needs it the most.
There’s a lot of pressure not just mounting on Herman and his coaching staff, but this entire Texas team heading into the weekend. One player that definitely needs to increase his efficiency out of the bye week, as does his supporting cast, is the senior star quarterback Sam Ehlinger.
Even though Ehlinger leads all FBS quarterbacks so far this season in total touchdowns, there’s a number of areas for which he could improve heading into the weekend. Let’s take a deeper look into three bold predictions for Ehlinger for the remainder of the Big 12 slate, coming out of the bye week.
