2) Bold predictions for Texas football vs. Baylor: Caden Sterns and D’shawn Jamison each pick-off Charlie Brewer

A big key to victory for the Longhorns this weekend to knock off the Bears will be winning the turnover battle. Something that the Longhorns did pretty well at opportune times in their first two games of the season, but really haven’t in each of the last two outings, is draw turnovers when the offense needed most to get the ball back.

Something that will help the Longhorns have a real shot to win the turnover battle this weekend is getting junior standout safety and former five-star recruit Caden Sterns back in the mix. Sterns returns to the starting secondary for newly hired defensive coordinator/safeties coach Chris Ash, coming off a turf toe injury, to face Baylor.

In three games played for Texas this season, Sterns registered 20 total tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss, one interception, and two pass deflections.

Another key piece of the Longhorns secondary this weekend, which needs to help disrupt the Baylor offense and senior dual-threat quarterback Charlie Brewer, is junior cornerback D’shawn Jamison. Last season, Jamison was huge for the Longhorns, registering three interceptions, three pass deflections, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and 3.5 tackles for loss.

But so far this season, Jamison doesn’t have a single pick, is getting beat more often in pass coverage, and has just 0.5 tackles for loss and two pass deflections. He needs to help get in the head of Brewer this weekend, and potentially draw a few turnovers alongside Sterns.
