In the mid-afternoon slate on Oct. 24, Texas football will be looking to snap their two-game losing streak against the Baylor Bears at home.

If the Texas football program can knock off the Baylor Bears in a really important contest this weekend, then fourth-year head coach Tom Herman will do a lot to get some of the continually mounting pressure off of his shoulders. Herman sits on one of the hottest seats in the entire country at the moment.

Texas and comes into this game with a record of 2-2 (1-2 Big 12), with a two-game skid at hand. Before the bye week, the Longhorns fell short to the Oklahoma Sooners in the annual Red River Rivalry game by the final score of 53-45 in four overtimes. The other loss that pushed the Longhorns to their current two-game losing streak heading into the weekend came against the TCU Horned Frogs in the Big 12 home opener back on Oct. 3, by the final score of 33-31.

Meanwhile, Baylor comes into this game with a record of 1-1 (1-1 Big 12). They had their originally scheduled matchup with the No. 7 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys set for Oct. 17 pushed back to Dec. 12 in the wake of a number of novel coronavirus cases that came about last week. The last game for Baylor resulted in a road loss against the West Virginia Mountaineers back on Oct. 3 in overtime.

Entering this game, Texas is the favorite over Baylor by 8.5 points in the betting line. And the ESPN Football Power Index gives Texas a 76.6 percent chance to beat Baylor on the afternoon of Oct. 24. The over/under is set at 60.5 points.

Here’s a look at the live stream, kick off time, pick for the game, and more as Texas takes on Baylor out of the bye week at home on Oct. 24.

Injured Texas football players

Texas is healthier out of the bye week then they were in Red River against Oklahoma. They should be getting sophomore wide receiver Jake Smith back from that nagging hamstring injury. And junior safety Caden Sterns should be returning from a turf toe injury that caused him to miss the Oklahoma game.

There’s also questions surrounding the status of senior grad transfer wide receiver Brenden Schooler and senior defensive back Chris Brown, who should be ready to go, but both dealt with various injuries over the last two weeks. Sophomore running back Roschon Johnson and freshman running back Bijan Robinson appear to be as close to 100 percent healthy as they’ve been in a while too.

The biggest player that will be missing this weekend for the Longhorns due a injury concerns is redshirt freshman wide receiver Jordan Whittington. Due to miss at least a couple of weeks with another injury issue, Whittington looks to at least miss the matchups against Baylor and then Oklahoma State on Oct. 31.

Picking Texas football vs. Baylor

The Longhorns really have their back up against the wall in this game. Texas and Baylor have each only played in one game since the conclusion of a disappointing Oct. 3 slate of games for each side. Texas is a pretty significant favorite in this game, considering they are on a two-game slide. But it makes sense given that Herman was solid in the last few years whenever his back is up against the wall.

Next. 3 problematic Baylor players for Texas. dark

This should be an important game both for Herman and senior star Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger. Still seeking out his first career touchdown against Baylor, Ehlinger should be able to take advantage of a weaker Bears defense than he faced last season. Expect a solid outing from Ehlinger yet again, leading the Longhorns to a decently impressive double-digit point victory.
