Texas Football: 3 problematic Pokes for the Longhorns
Texas football will have a load of talented players to deal with on both sides of the ball this weekend on the road against Oklahoma State.
What looks to be one of the most important games of the 2020 season for fourth-year Texas football head coach Tom Herman has almost arrived. Texas takes on longtime head coach Mike Gundy and the undefeated and No. 6 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road in Stillwater at Boone Pickens Stadium on Oct. 31.
Kick off between Texas and Oklahoma State this weekend is set for 3 p.m. CT, and the game will be televised nationally on Fox.
Texas comes into this game with a record of 3-2 (2-2 Big 12), coming off their Oct. 24 win at home over first-year head coach Dave Aranda and the Baylor Bears. The Longhorns got the win over Baylor by the final score of 27-16. For the first time since the 2019 regular season finale, the Longhorns beat a Big 12 foe by a double-digit margin.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma State comes into this game with a record of 4-0 (3-0 Big 12), coming off a crucial 24-21 win at home in Stillwater over the No. 17 ranked Iowa State Cyclones. Oklahoma State is about the best hope that the Big 12 has left to make the College Football Playoff by this point.
Texas is currently a 3.5-point underdog in the betting line this week for the Oklahoma State game, and the over/under is set at 58.5 points. According to the ESPN Football Power Index, Texas actually has just over a 51 percent chance to pull off the upset on the road.
The all-time series in this conference matchup falls in favor of the Longhorns, with a record of 25-9-0. Texas would both be able to extend their winning streak this season to two games if they win this weekend, and their winning streak in this series with Oklahoma State.
But this will by no means be easy to be this talented Oklahoma State team on Halloweekend. Here’s a look at three potentially problematic players for the Pokes in taking on the Longhorns on the afternoon of Oct. 31.
