A golden opportunity for the Texas football program to shake up the Big 12 and get themselves on the right track is presented this weekend in Stillwater.

What could be the biggest game of the season for the Texas football program lies ahead this weekend against the undefeated and No. 6 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road in Stillwater in the mid-afternoon slate on Oct. 31. Texas and Oklahoma State met in a pivotal matchup at Boone Pickens Stadium, with kick off set for 3 p.m. CT, nationally televised on Fox.

Fourth-year head coach Tom Herman enters this game with a lot of pressure on his shoulders yet again to get this upset win. Meanwhile, longtime Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy is hoping to keep pushing his team’s case for the College Football Playoff, and to sit atop the Big 12 standings, by staving off the Longhorns upset bid.

Texas comes into this game with a record of 3-2 (2-2 Big 12), after knocking off the Baylor Bears in a home contest back on Oct. 24 by the final score of 27-16. That win over Baylor snapped a two-game skid for the Longhorns, that they racked up in losses to the TCU Horned Frogs and Oklahoma in their first two outings of this month.

And Oklahoma State comes into this game with a record of 4-0 (3-0 Big 12) after staving off an upset bid from the No. 17 Iowa State Cyclones on Oct. 24, by the final score of 24-21. That was the biggest win of the season to date for the Pokes.

Texas is around a 3.5-point underdog against Oklahoma State this weekend, and the over/under is set at 58.5 total points. And according to the ESPN Football Power Index, Texas does have just over a 51 percent chance to beat Oklahoma State on the road.

Here’s a look at four reasons why the Longhorns could actually pull off the massive upset of Oklahoma State this weekend.
