Texas Football: 3 2022 QB prospects to replace Quinn Ewers
3) 2022 Texas football QB targets to replace Ewers: Cade Klubnik
The obvious way that the Longhorns could go for their 2022 recruiting class at the quarterback position in terms of who they haven’t offered yet is the hometown product and four-star Westlake pro-style signal caller Cade Klubnik. This 6-foot-2.5 and 180 pound Austin, TX, native is starting to pick up more attention on the trail of late.
The Longhorns would be wise to jump on sending out a scholarship offer Klubnik’s way in the very near future. It would be better for them to pick up a commitment from Klubnik soon than doing what they did in the 2021 class once they lost the pledge from four-star Katy-Tompkins dual-threat quarterback Jalen Milroe. Once Milroe decommitted from Texas, as a direct result of Ewers pledging back in mid-August, the 2021 class had to turn to a hometown product for answers.
As the lone quarterback commit in the 2021 class at this point, three-star Austin High pro-style quarterback Charles Wright would be facing an uphill battle to start in a few years over someone like Klubnik. This Westlake High School standout ranks as the nation’s No. 258 2022 high school prospect, No. 10 pro-style quarterback, and No. 36 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite).
And the Top247 ranks Klubnik as the nation’s No. 220 high school prospect, No. 7 pro-style quarterback, and No. 30 prospect out of Texas.
As of the morning of Oct. 29, Klubnik holds offers from two dozen schools. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Auburn Tigers, Baylor Bears, Arkansas Razorbacks, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Michigan State Spartans, Nebraska Cornhuskers, North Carolina Tar Heels, TCU Horned Frogs, and Washington Huskies.
