Texas football got the win that they needed for head coach Tom Herman against No. 6 Oklahoma State over the weekend, in overtime by a score of 41-34.

An absolutely monumental win arrived for fourth-year head coach Tom Herman and the Texas football program in a huge game over the weekend on the road against the previously undefeated and No. 6 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys. Texas came into this game with a record of 3-2 (2-2 Big 12), after their double-digit victory over the Baylor Bears at home back on Oct. 24.

Meanwhile, Oklahoma State came into the game with a record of 4-0 (3-0 Big 12), after their big win over the No. 17 ranked Iowa State Cyclones at home back on Oct. 24 by the final score of 24-21. Coming into this showdown, Oklahoma State looked like the established front runner (and maybe the last team out of the conference with a realistic shot) out of the Big 12 to make the College Football Playoff.

But the likes of the Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners were the two teams that helped to throw the Big 12 into further chaos in the last couple of weeks. At least both Texas and Oklahoma are trending up entering the thick of the Big 12 slate. They both came up with big wins in each of the last two weeks.

Texas pulled out this thrilling win over Oklahoma State, as a 3.5-point underdog in the betting line just ahead of kick off, by the final score of 41-34 in overtime. They pulled off a big rally at the end of a game again, scoring the last 21 points in this game. Texas also benefited greatly from a number of bad turnovers from the Oklahoma State offense, namely redshirt sophomore quarterback Spencer Sanders.

With the win, Texas moves to 4-2 (3-2 Big 12) on the season and returns back to the AP Poll, in the No. 22 slot. With all of this in mind, here’s a look at three overreactions from the Longhorns big win over Oklahoma State on Oct. 31.
