Texas Football: 3 most disappointing players halfway through 2020
Despite the recent improved results in the win column heading into the bye week, which Texas football players have disappointed halfway through 2020?
We are a little more than halfway through the 2020 regular season for the Texas football program, and it seems like it was long ago that they were kicking off the campaign against the UTEP Miners back at home on Sep. 12. Heading out of Week 10 of the college football season, Texas has now played in seven games, and experienced a lot of ups and downs along the way.
Texas now heads into their second bye week of the Big 12 schedule with a record of 5-2 (4-2 Big 12). Fourth-year Texas head coach Tom Herman just saw his team upend second-year head coach Neal Brown and the West Virginia Mountaineers at home over the weekend, by the very narrow final score of 17-13. Texas got the big Nov. 7 triumph to build their winning streak up to three games heading into the bye week.
The other two wins that the Longhorns mounted to get the winning streak up to three games came over the previously undefeated and No. 6 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Baylor Bears. Texas got the upset win over Oklahoma State on the road back on Halloween Day, by the nailbiting final score of 41-34 in overtime.
And the win over first-year head coach Dave Aranda and the Bears came at home back on Oct. 24, by the more convincing final score of 27-16. Now that Texas has rebounded after a rather suspect and disappointing 2-2 start to the season by the time mid-October hit, it is an interesting time to reflect on how they got to this spot now. The roller coaster ride of a 2020 season provided for plenty of notable highs and lows for Herman and the Longhorns.
Now, let’s take a look back at the three most disappointing Longhorns players at the presumed halfway mark of the 2020 season.
