The first day of the Early Signing Period has arrived. Which potential signees in the 2021 Texas basketball recruiting class can make an instant impact?

The first day of the Early Signing Period around the men’s college hoops landscape has arrived on Nov. 11. This round of the signing period will last for a full week, wrapping up on Nov. 18. And then the first day of the regular signing period will arrive on April 14, 2021, and carry through for a little more than one month, through May 21, 2021. That effectively makes National Signing Day for the 2021 Texas basketball recruiting class and head coach Shaka Smart May 21, 2021.

The first signee to drop for Texas on the morning of Nov. 11 (the first day of this Early Signing Period) was three-star Grace Christian School power forward and North Carolina native Keeyan Itejere. According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2021 Texas recruiting class ranks at No. 21 in the nation, and in the second spot in the Big 12 behind the Baylor Bears.

I should mention before getting too deep in the weeds with this piece that the Longhorns do have four commits/signees in the 2021 recruiting class as of the afternoon of Nov. 11. Texas is anticipated to sign all four of their 2021 commits in this class by the end of the first day of the Early Signing Period. Given recent recruiting trends in both college hoops and football, that is not much of a surprise.

But picking three of the commits that will make an immediate impact for the Longhorns is no easy task. At least there’s not a large quantity to choose from. What is clear is that Texas really needed a deep 2021 class, after their lone signee for the 2020 cycle was the elite five-star Vandegrift power forward Greg Brown.

With all of this in mind, here’s a look at the three potential signees in the Longhorns 2021 class that can make an instant impact.
