
What is the current status of the Texas football program heading into a much needed bye week following the four-point win over West Virginia?
It was a nice result for the Texas football program and fourth-year head coach Tom Herman over the weekend, getting a big 17-13 win over the West Virginia Mountaineers at home back on Nov. 7. Texas moved to a record of 5-2 (4-2 Big 12) on the season, with a No. 21 slot in the latest AP Poll and No. 24 in the Coaches Poll, heading into the second bye week of the conference slate.
The Longhorns have now built a three-game winning streak heading into the bye week after their narrow four-point victory over West Virginia. The other two wins came over the previously No. 6 ranked and undefeated Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Baylor Bears. Texas got the win over Oklahoma State back on Oct. 31 on the road by the final score of 41-34 in overtime.
And Texas got the win over first-year head coach Dave Aranda and Baylor back on Oct. 24 at home by the final score of 27-16.
Coming out of the bye week, the first game for the Longhorns will come against the lowly Kansas Jayhawks and head coach Les Miles, on the road on Nov. 21. Texas will then round out their regular season slate the following two weeks against the Kansas State Wildcats and Iowa State Cyclones.
The Longhorns need a strong finish to the regular season to avoid complete disappointment with the results from the campaign. There’s a number of mixed feelings about what we’ve seen from the Longhorns so far this season.
