247Sports creates Texas football-Dallas Cowboys helmet design

A very unique helmet design concept was formed between the logo/color schemes of Texas football and the Dallas Cowboys in a 247Sports piece.

There was an interesting concept presented in a piece from 247Sports on Nov. 12, combining designs of local college football teams into the helmets of the 32 NFL teams. The Texas football program had their widely-known Longhorns logo combined with the helmet of the Dallas Cowboys in this piece.

The other college team that had their logo combined with the Cowboys for the new helmet design was the TCU Horned Frogs.

It is a weird thought to put the burnt orange in combination with the Cowboys silver and navy traditional color scheme. But the design actually didn’t turn out too bad, and it looked a good bit cleaner than that of the Horned Frogs combination with the Cowboys helmet and color scheme.

Replacing the navy with the burnt orange doesn’t sound too bad either when you think about it. The design isn’t something that either team should draw design concepts off of, but it was a cool idea in theory.

Some of the other cleaner looking designs from this piece from 247Sports included the combination of the Philadelphia Eagles and Villanova Wildcats, Raiders and Cal Golden Bears, Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Bearcats, Miami Dolphins and Miami Hurricanes, Indianapolis Colts and Indiana Hoosiers, and Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Golden Gophers.

There were some very rough design combinations pitched here too. The Texas A&M Aggies color scheme and logo concept did not work well in unison with the Houston Texans. The Florida Gators and Jacksonville Jaguars also did not work out well at all together.

Other design concepts just saw the college or NFL design look the same that they do now, including the Ohio State Buckeyes taking over the Cleveland Browns helmet, and the Los Angeles Rams turning to a complete USC Trojans color scheme.

What is cool about this piece too is the recognition of the Cowboys and Longhorns color schemes, helmets, and logos, as some of the most marketable and recognizable in all of North America. They are legendary design concepts that didn’t look too shabby together.
