4-Star elite Texas football DE target Tunmise Adeleye trending to Alabama
The roller coaster ride that is the pursuit of the former target of the 2021 Texas football recruiting class, 4-Star DE Tunmise Adeleye, could soon end.
A once big time target of the 2021 Texas football recruiting class, four-star highly coveted Katy-Tompkins strong-side defensive end Tunmise Adeleye is about to have his commitment date come up during the Early Signing Period. Like so many other prospects do in this day and age on the recruiting trail, Adeleye is set to make an impactful commitment decision on the second day of the Early Signing Period (Dec. 17, 2020).
The first day of the Early Signing Period for the 2021 recruiting cycle is set to take place on Dec. 16. And the three day Early Signing Period will wrap up on the evening of Dec. 18. National Signing Day is set to stick to its regularly scheduled date of Feb. 3, 2021 (at least as it stands now).
The 6-foot-3 and 245 pound edge rusher product hailing out of Katy, TX, had a pretty wild recruitment up to this point. Adeleye just decommitted from head coach Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes back on Aug. 11, 2020. That was less than four months after he originally gave his commitment to the Buckeyes (specifically on April 15).
At different points of his recruitment, it looked like other competing schools ranging from the Longhorns to the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, and Texas A&M Aggies were leaders to land his pledge. But now the 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions are starting to give favor to the Crimson Tide to land Adeleye’s commitment.
Alabama could be the favorite a little more than one month ahead of his scheduled commitment date. But don’t discount the likes of Texas A&M and Florida before the Early Signing Period arrives.
Adeleye currently holds offers from more than 30 schools as of the afternoon of Nov. 12. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet (outside of those already mentioned) includes the Auburn Tigers, Baylor Bears, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Michigan Wolverines, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Oklahoma Sooners, Ohio State Buckeyes, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Oregon Ducks, Penn State Nittany Lions, TCU Horned Frogs, Tennessee Volunteers, and Washington Huskies.
Moreover, Adeleye ranks as the nation’s No. 32 2021 high school prospect, No. 5 strong-side defensive end, and No. 5 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 81 high school prospect, No. 7 strong-side defensive end, and No. 14 prospect out of Texas.
According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2021 Alabama recruiting class is the best in the nation (and obviously tops in the SEC). Meanwhile, the 2021 Texas recruiting class holds steady at No. 17 in the national class rankings and in the second spot in the Big 12 behind the Sooners.
