The 2021 Reese’s Senior Bowl is around two and a half months away, and Texas football QB Sam Ehlinger just accepted his invite to play in the game.

At this point of the college football season, there aren’t many players that have accepted invites to the Reese’s Senior Bowl. But one of the players that has accepted his invite for the Senior Bowl is the senior star Texas football quarterback Sam Ehlinger. As the first Longhorn to accept an invite to the Senior Bowl this year, Ehlinger could be the first to make his intentions known for the upcoming NFL Draft.

There is the opportunity for Ehlinger to return for one more year, if he chose to do so, despite this being his senior season. The NCAA is letting every athlete playing out the 2020 college football season get this year of eligibility back. In theory, Ehlinger could return for the 2021 season if he wanted to.

But that doesn’t seem too likely at this point in time.

As of the morning of Nov. 12, just over a dozen potential NFL Draft prospects have accepted their invites to play in the Senior Bowl, which is set to take place on Jan. 30, 2021. And the Senior Bowl is once again set to take place in Mobile, AL.

A lot of uncertainty surrounds which potential early declarations will drop for the 2021 NFL Draft. The players that accept invites to the Senior Bowl in the midst of the 2020 season provides good insight into that since even the upperclassmen could return next year for their respective teams.
