3) In-state ’21 Texas football recruiting misses

Head coach Nick Saban and the vaunted Crimson Tide took commitments from multiple big time Texas targets/former commits for the 2021 recruiting cycle in the last few months. But now that Texas no longer has the commitment of Ewers in their 2022 class, a lot of spotlight fell on the impact of seeing the former four-star Katy-Tompkins dual-threat quarterback commit Jalen Milroe flip from the Longhorns to the Crimson Tide.

Milroe wound up flipping from Texas to Alabama back in the summer, during the long 2020 offseason. He committed to Alabama back on Aug. 17, and is anticipated to sign his National Letter of Intent during the Early Signing Period with the Crimson Tide. That is now a really huge loss for the Longhorns since Milroe decommitted right after Ewers originally joined the 2022 class.

What Texas lost from the flip of the commitment of Milroe is the nation’s No. 83 2021 high school prospect, No. 4 dual-threat quarterback, and No. 13 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 101 high school prospect, No. 6 dual-threat quarterback, and No. 16 prospect out of Texas.

The 6-foot-1.5 and 195 pound talented signal caller hailing out of Katy, TX, held offers from Texas and more than 20 other schools prior to flipping his commitment to Alabama. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet included the Baylor Bears, Florida, Florida State, Miami Hurricanes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Oregon, Texas A&M Aggies, and Ole Miss Rebels.
