Texas Football: 4 biggest 2021 in-state prospects that got away from Herman
1) In-state ’21 Texas football recruiting misses
Another prospect hailing out of Katy, TX, that was once a big time target of the Longhorns 2021 recruiting class is now also a former decommitment of head coach Ryan Day and the Ohio State Buckeyes. The highly touted four-star Katy-Tompkins strong-side defensive end Tunmise Adeleye had a winding road for his commitment that was pretty confusing so far.
There were different points of Adeleye’s recruitment where it felt like he was trending any number of ways. The likes of Alabama, Florida, Ohio State, Texas, Oklahoma, etc. were all among the apparent leaders at least at one point in time for this 6-foot-3 and 245 standout pass rusher.
As of the afternoon of Nov. 13, Adeleye holds offers from 33 schools. The highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes Alabama, Ohio State, Florida, Texas A&M, Texas, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State Nittany Lions, Tennessee Volunteers, USC, and Washington Huskies.
If Texas does officially lose out on the commitment of Adeleye when he’s expected to announce his decision on Dec. 17 (which they’re likely too), they would miss out on yet another blue chip in-state. Adeleye ranks as the nation’s No. 32 2021 high school prospect, No. 5 strong-side defensive end, and No. 5 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 81 high school prospect, No. 7 strong-side defensive end, and No. 14 prospect out of Texas.
At this point, it looks like the Crimson Tide are the rising favorite to get Adeleye’s commitment.
