Texas football making headway with rising 3-Star 2022 LB Trevell Johnson
There is a new looming prospect for the 2022 Texas football recruiting class at the linebacker position with 3-Star Martin product Trevell Johnson.
The efforts to continue to rebuild the 2022 Texas football recruiting class are largely being put into place following the terrible news that fourth-year head coach Tom Herman got at the end of last month. Texas lost the commitment of the nation’s top ranked 2022 quarterback prospect, and five-star elite Southlake Carroll pro-style quarterback Quinn Ewers, back on the night of Oct. 28. Immediately following the decommitment from Ewers, Texas also saw four-star Lancaster wide receiver Phaizon Wilson re-open his recruitment.
All that is left in the Longhorns 2022 recruiting class at this point in time is four-star Memorial cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau.
The Longhorns will need to find another avenue for which they can build up a prominent 2022 class. Their bid to potentially nab the nation’s top 2022 recruiting class was shattered all in one swoop after Ewers announced his decommitment.
However, Texas is finding some solid targets to offer of late for their 2022 class. One of the latest offers sent out to a defensive prospect went to the rising 6-foot and 200 pound three-star Arlington-Martin inside linebacker Trevell Johnson. This unheralded and potent linebacker prospect hailing out of Arlington, TX, received his Texas scholarship offer back on Nov. 1.
Since then, the lone scholarship offer that Johnson received came from head coach Jeremy Pruitt and the Tennessee Volunteers out of the SEC East.
Johnson is now up over a dozen schools on his ever-growing offer sheet. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Baylor Bears, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Arkansas Razorbacks, Ole Miss Rebels, SMU Mustangs, Arizona Wildcats, and Washington State Cougars.
But it seems like this Texas offer has already made a big impact with Johnson. His interest in Texas on his 247Sports recruiting profile is already listed as “warm”, alongside two other schools. Those other two schools are Baylor and Texas Tech.
Moreover, Johnson ranks as the nation’s No. 417 2022 high school prospect, No. 17 inside linebacker, and No. 57 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 18 inside linebacker and No. 75 prospect out of Texas.
Johnson is the fourth inside linebacker that the Longhorns have offered for their 2022 class. Herman and the Longhorns are now up over 100 offers in total to 2022 prospects. Hopefully another big time commit is looming large for Texas for their 2022 class in the very near future.
