The 2021 Texas football recruiting class is watching for a big looming commitment decision on Nov. 14, from 4-Star OLB Terrence Cooks.

There’s a big looming commitment decision for a key target of the 2021 Texas football recruiting class set for the afternoon of Nov. 14. Texas has a chance to break their roughly month and a half long dry streak on the recruiting trail for their 2021 class if they’re able to land a commitment from the four-star 6-foot-2 and 210 pound Shadow Creek outside linebacker Terrence Cooks.

Fourth-year Texas head coach Tom Herman hasn’t added a commitment to his 2021 recruiting class since three-star Strake Jesuit offensive tackle Max Merril gave his pledge back on Sep. 25. Texas actually has multiple decommitments from their 2021 and 2022 recruiting classes since the last time they added anyone for either cycle.

With Cooks set to announce his commitment decision on the afternoon of Nov. 14, Herman and the Longhorns have a real shot to turnaround their fortunes on the recruiting trail. A little more than one month from the start of the Early Signing Period, Texas needs some momentum to turn in their favor in the very near future.

Landing a commitment from Cooks is a very good place to start.

And the good news for the Longhorns is that the 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions have Cooks trending firmly in favor of giving his commitment to Texas. The Rivals FutureCast also has 100 percent of their analysts and publishers picking Cooks to give his pledge to the Longhorns.

As of the afternoon of Nov. 14, Cooks holds offers from three dozen schools. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes the Baylor Bears, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Oregon Ducks, Tennessee Volunteers, Stanford Cardinal, USC Trojans, Washington Huskies, and Texas A&M Aggies.

Cooks ranks as the nation’s No. 302 2021 high school prospect, No. 20 outside linebacker, and No. 46 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the No. 28 outside linebacker and No. 52 prospect out of Texas.

It appears that the decision for Cooks will narrow down to four finalist schools. Those four schools includes Texas, Georgia, LSU, and Baylor. But it looks like his interests are firmly pointed in the direction of the Longhorns.
