Which prospect could be up next for the 2021 Texas football recruiting class after landing a commitment from 4-Star OLB Terrence Cooks last weekend?

It is officially crunch time for the 2021 Texas football recruiting class, exactly one month ahead of the start of the Early Signing Period (first day is Dec. 16). Fourth-year Texas head coach Tom Herman got off to a good start for the 2021 recruiting cycle, but this class has slipped in the last couple of months.

Costly decommitments and just overall whiffs on the recruiting trail for the 2021 cycle have cost Herman and his coaching staff. And it reflects in their spot in the national class rankings this cycle compared to the last few. This might be the first signing class that the Longhorns get outside of the top 10 in the national class rankings for the first time since the 2017 cycle.

However, Texas did get a nice bit of news on the recruiting trail for the first time in a good while over the weekend. Herman and the Longhorns landed a solid commitment from the talented four-star Shadow Creek Terrence Cooks back on Nov. 14. Cooks is the 18th commitment in the Longhorns 2021 class. And he was the first addition to the 2021 class since landing a pledge from three-star Strake Jesuit offensive tackle Max Merril back on Sep. 25.

After landing a commitment from Cooks, the Longhorns are just one prospect shy of getting a double digit number of blue chips in the 2021 class. According to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, the 2021 Texas recruiting class now ranks at No. 17 in the nation and remains behind the Oklahoma Sooners in the second spot in the Big 12.

Who’s up next for the Longhorns? Here’s a look into a few potential commits that could be up next for the 2021 class.
