1) Next up for 2021 Texas football recruiting class

Although he’s one of the most highly rated remaining uncommitted 2021 high school prospects that has a Texas offer and could realistically land on the Forty Acres when it’s all said and done, the four-star DeSoto strong-side defensive end Shemar Turner isn’t getting a whole lot of attention at the moment. There’s also not a clear indication of the way that Turner is leaning until pretty recently.

We do know that the Longhorns were heavily involved in the recruiting process of the standout 6-foot-4 and 285 pound defensive end in the last 10-12 months. This talented prospect hailing out of DeSoto, TX, is reportedly currently leaning to Texas A&M over Texas (per 247Sports report, paid content).

If there is any way that Texas can remain in the running to land a commitment from Turner, they need to prioritize hitting that point home.

As of the night of Nov. 16, Turner holds offers from just shy of 40 schools. The other highlighting schools on his offer sheet includes Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, LSU, Auburn, Florida, the Florida State Seminoles, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Oregon, TCU Horned Frogs, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Washington Huskies, and Wisconsin Badgers.

Moreover, Turner ranks as the nation’s No. 58 2021 high school prospect, No. 6 strong-side defensive end, and No. 9 prospect out of Texas (247Sports Composite). And the Top247 ranks him as the nation’s No. 66 high school prospect, No. 6 strong-side defensive end, and No. 9 prospect out of Texas.
