Anyone could guess what lies ahead for Texas football head coach Tom Herman throughout the remainder of the 2020 regular season.

Coming out of the bye week, fourth-year Texas football head coach Tom Herman has the important looming task of getting his team focused to face the lowly Kansas Jayhawks and head coach Les Miles on the road on Nov. 21. Texas has not found as much success as other good teams around the Big 12 against the Jayhawks over the course of the last four years.

Last season, Miles and the Jayhawks took Herman and the Longhorns right down to the wire. It took a game-winning field goal from then sophomore kicker Cameron Dicker for Texas to get the win over Kansas last year, even though they came into the game as a heavy favorite. Two years ago, the Jayhawks kept it much closer than expected once again in taking on the Longhorns.

Really the only occasion where Herman and the Longhorns got a comfortable win over the Jayhawks in his three tries in this series came back in 2017, his first year at the helm. And we haven’t forgotten the last try against the Jayhawks and their former head coach David Beaty, when former Texas head coach Charlie Strong fell short in one of this program’s biggest upset losses in recent memory.

Coming out of the bye week, the Longhorns carry a record of 5-2 (4-2 Big 12) and a spot inside both the AP Poll and Coaches Poll this week. The last game for the Longhorns resulted in a narrow 17-13 win at home back on Nov. 7 over the West Virginia Mountaineers. Herman needs to build this winning streak to four games next weekend to continue to push this team in the right direction. It’s critical for Herman to continue to make strides in the right direction from here on out.

Here’s a look at three bold predictions for Herman not only in the Kansas game, but for the remainder of the 2020 season, coming out of the bye week.
