1) Texas football HC Herman bold predictions

Longhorns limp into the Big 12 Championship Game

Despite all the mounting pressure on Herman’s shoulders this fall both on the field and on the recruiting trail, there is still a good shot that his team gets a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game. Texas is likely to battle it out with the likes of the Iowa State Cyclones, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State to determine who plays in Arlington (probably set for Dec. 19).

After Texas faces Kansas next weekend, they still have to contend with Iowa State and the Kansas State Wildcats to round out the regular season slate. Kansas shouldn’t be all too difficult, but Texas can’t get caught looking ahead to the games against Iowa State and Kansas State.

The two losses in Big 12 play for the Longhorns this season came at the hands of Oklahoma and the TCU Horned Frogs. They can’t really slip up one more time this fall, or else they will miss out on the Big 12 Championship Game for the second straight year. The last time they made it was back during the 2018 season, when they lost to Oklahoma to split that season series.

It’s not out of the question that the Longhorns take care of business against the Kansas schools and Iowa State to round out this roller coaster ride of a regular season with a record of 8-2 (7-2 Big 12). That would present the weird situation of figuring out what to do over the long haul with Herman. Arguing with those results might so be so easy. But at least it would signal a positive end to the 2020 season.

This was supposed to be the year where Herman and Ehlinger took the Longhorns to new heights, won a Big 12 Championship, and competed for a spot in the College Football Playoff. But those goals came unhinged very fast, with a .500 record in the first four games of the season. Herman needs to get his team back on track down the stretch this season.
