2) Breakout Texas football players down the stretch

Many Longhorns fans would already consider the former elite five-star recruit and Tucson, AZ, native freshman running back Bijan Robinson as a player who broke through so far this season. The 6-foot and 225 pound Robinson had a really solid game in the Longhorns Nov. 7 win at home over the West Virginia Mountaineers by the final score of 17-13.

Robinson also played an integral role at times in the Longhorns upset over over the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road back on Oct. 31, in overtime by the final score of 41-34. Somehow Robinson is still seeking out his first touchdown (rushing or receiving) of his college career six games in. Despite all of his production in recent weeks, that is still something he will be looking to rack up next weekend against Kansas.

In six games played this season, Robinson registered 294 rushing yards on 51 attempts (5.8 yards per carry), and 105 receiving yards on nine catches (11.7 yards per catch). That pushes Robinson one yard shy of getting 400 total yards from scrimmage on the season to date. Outside of one weird play in the win over West Virginia, Robinson is also yet to fumble on the season.

With the rise in workload for Robinson of late, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him become one of the true breakthrough star running backs down the stretch in the Big 12. Robinson is clearly the most productive running back among the three on that are getting a heavier workload for Texas currently. That trend is likely to continue down the stretch.
