2) Texas basketball players to watch for 2021 draft

It was pretty difficult to figure out who would assume this spot on the list among current Longhorns players. This decision came down to the rising senior standout center Sims and the former highly touted four-star recruit and Missouri native rising junior guard Courtney Ramey. The 6-foot-3 and 185 pound St. Louis, MO, native should be one of the more potent and experienced guards in the Big 12 this coming season.

The shake that Ramey has in his game, and his improving shooting touch from deep, are going to continue to draw eyes from around the Big 12 (and the entire country) on his draft stock. The problem for Ramey is going to be his age, since he is entering his junior campaign. He would be one of the older guards in the 2021 or 2022 draft class.

That’s why it is so important for Ramey, along with senior standout guard Matt Coleman, to take their game to completely new heights during the looming 2020-21 college hoops season. Last season, Ramey played in 31 games for the Longhorns (all but three of which he started in). And he averaged 10.9 points per game, 3.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.0 steals, and 0.1 blocks. Ramey shot 40.1 percent from the field, 31.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 70.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Combine the three-point shooting percentage for Ramey from his freshman campaign (around 39.0 percent) and his improved free-throw shooting from last season, and he will really start to see his efficiency take off. The other part of his game that needs to progress this coming season is on the defensive end of the floor. He did improve his defensive rating from 102 to 97 from his freshman to sophomore season.
