1) Problematic Cyclones for Texas football

The ground game, and stopping the run, is what could decide this game for Iowa State and Texas. There’s a lot of young running back talent on both sidelines for this matchup. For the Longhorns, true freshman running back Bijan Robinson and sophomore Roschon Johnson could shoulder the load for the ground game. And on the Iowa State side, breakthrough star sophomore running back Breece Hall and senior Kene Nwangwu will lead the way.

But most of the workload for the Clones ground game is definitely going to go Hall’s way. He’s not just one of the best running backs in the Big 12 this year, but in the entire country. This sizable 6-foot-1 and 215 pound standout is on pace to lead the Big 12 in most significant rushing categories among running backs this season.

In eight games played this season, Hall took most of the responsibility for the success of this offense while taking on a huge workload. He’s had 180 rushing attempts for a whopping 1,169 rushing yards (6.5 yards per carry), and 15 rushing touchdowns. Hall added 15 catches for 88 receiving yards and one touchdown catch this fall.

When he was taking the place of then injured former Iowa State star running back David Montgomery against the Longhorns last season, Hall did well with a big workload. He registered 101 rushing yards, 4.2 yards per carry, but no touchdowns, in Iowa State’s loss to Texas last year. Expect Hall to be a load for the Longhorns to deal with on Black Friday.
