Texas football is set to lose some depth at running back against the Iowa State Cyclones, with junior Keaontay Ingram out with a lower-body injury.

The final set of injury updates arrived for the Texas football program just ahead of kick off against the No. 13 ranked Iowa State Cyclones. No. 17 ranked Texas is mostly healthy this week, after coming off a de facto double bye week, in taking on Iowa State. They get important skill position players like redshirt freshman wide receiver Jordan Whittington and redshirt sophomore Joshua Moore back for Iowa State.

On the other hand, the Longhorns and fourth-year head coach Tom Herman are missing to miss one key skill position player against head coach Matt Campbell and the Cyclones on Black Friday. Texas reportedly is set to have junior running back Keaontay Ingram out for the Iowa State game, as he’s dealing with a leg injury going back a few weeks.

This is the second game in a row that Ingram will miss for the Longhorns dealing with this lower-body injury. His injury is likely to give way to a bigger workload split between sophomore running back Roschon Johnson and true freshman former five-star recruit Bijan Robinson. Throughout the last few weeks, Robinson really started to take hold of the bulk of the ball carrying responsibilities out of the backfield.

Robinson was definitely much more efficient in the last couple of games for the Longhorns than Johnson.

Moreover, what Texas is missing with Ingram out for the Iowa State game is 250 rushing yards (4.7 yards per carry), one rushing touchdown, 103 receiving yards, and one touchdown catch. Ingram also leads all Texas running backs in fumbles on the season (with two).

Robinson leads the Longhorns in rushing yards on the season so far. He’s registered 294 rushing yards on 51 attempts (5.8 yards per carry), with no rushing touchdowns. Robinson added 105 receiving yards on nine catches, with no receiving touchdowns.
