1) Overreactions from Texas football loss to ISU

Breece Hall was right about the Longhorns

We all knew what Iowa State’s ground game was going to bring to the table with one of the nation’s best running backs this season in Hall. The star sophomore 6-foot-1 and 215 pound breakthrough talent was definitely the best running back in the Big 12 heading into this game, even above the likes of Oklahoma State’s Chuba Hubbard and Kansas’ Pooka Williams.

In this game alone, Hall registered just 91 rushing yards on 20 attempts (4.6 yards per carry), with one rushing touchdown. Hall also didn’t get any receptions, thus no receiving yards. He was also up and down in the blocking game out of the backfield. First-year defensive coordinator/safeties coach Chris Ash actually did a nice job holding Hall in check.

However, Hall is now up to 1,348 total yards from scrimmage and 17 total touchdowns on the season to date. That all came in just nine games played. He’s got well over 1,200 rushing yards already, more than six yards per carry, and 16 rushing touchdowns. With all of that in mind, Hall was able to just torch the Texas program with a post-game comment following Iowa State’s narrow win.

Hall stated following his team’s win that this was “five-star culture vs. five-star players”. And you got to see which won out in the end. Texas does need to find a way to make these five-star players develop in an atmosphere that produces five-star culture. That’s just not happening under Herman’s direction right now.
