Texas Basketball: 3 bold predictions in Maui Invitational vs. Indiana

Jericho Sims has his worst performance of the season so far
The start to the season so far for Sims was not ideal. Granted it was a long time since he was healthy and ready to go for the Longhorns. He missed the final stretch run of Big 12 play this past regular season as he was dealing with an upper-body injury. It might be a while before Sims is back up and running at peak efficiency for the Longhorns.
The writing is on the wall that this game could be a struggle for him, though. Sims has not played well against Big Ten competition in his career. In four tries against Big Ten opposition in his career to date, Sims averaged 4.8 points per game, 3.2 personal fouls, about one turnover, 2.2 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.5 blocks.
One player that could make up some ground for the Longhorns if Sims continues his downtrodden play against Big Ten competition is the former elite five-star recruit and true freshman power forward Greg Brown. Although he hasn’t done so at the most efficient clip, Brown did put up some solid per game stats for the first two games of his college career.
Through two games played this season (both of which he started in), Brown averaged 11.0 points per game, 8.0 rebounds, 0.5 assists, no steals, and 0.5 blocks. And he’s shot 30.0 percent from the field, is 0-of-7 on three-point attempts, and is shooting 76.9 percent from the free-throw line. Brown has to increase the efficiency on his shot selection and shooting percentages, but he’s on the right track with his confidence and defensive play so far.
